Trip to Millthorpe.
I thought I'd share some happy snaps of a recent holiday.
A spontaneous weekend away to town called Millthorpe, about 2 hours from where we live.
It was such a picturesque town I was kicking myself that I didn't take some quilts to photograph. This big shed would have been a great background.
So many beautiful old buildings...
... and lots of pretty street scences.
Wonderful earthy colours of corragated iron.
I have a thing for doorways!
I love the colours of this one.
A fun way to use old boots!!
And just look at that cute pink duck!! He was gone the next day when we walked by. Maybe his owner puts him away on weekends when there is more passing traffic.
Sweet little woven pups... They were sitting out the front of a gift shop. Yes, I was very tempted!
We were impressed by this life size horse made from old farm machinery. It was in the front of a fascinating History Museum that was full of all sorts of things.
There were old tractors, wooden carts, ancient farm machinery, fascinating old news paper photos, household sundries of all sorts. We spent a good couple of hours wandering around through history.
It wasn't all walking around, there was food as well...
Tables at the Old Mill Cafe.
I soon forgot the tables when the food arrived.
Beautiful scenery, excellent food, wine tasting at cellar doors, a fascinating museum... it was just two days away but it felt like a week. We'll definitely go back to Milthorpe one day, and when we do I'll remember to take a quilt or two to photograph.
Maybe it'll be this one that I'm working on at the moment...

Your new project looks very promising -- I love it already!
ReplyDeleteI am always amazed when I see photos of historic sites in Australia by how spread out everything is. Around here, in what was Upper Canada back in the day, the buildings tended to huddle together. Different environment, I guess. Anyway, I always love to see the photos!
It does look like a beautiful town. Loved your photos, too. Glad you had a good time.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see more denim in the works!
