Tea Towel Time
It's Thursday and it's been a pretty crazy week so I thought I'd have a Tea Towel fashion parade... well , it's as good a reason as any :)
Let's start with this beauty from The Big Banana!
The Big Banana is one of Australia's Big Icon tourist attractions. I've never actually been there but surely having the tea towel has to be the next best thing.
Another of Australia's icons is The Big Pineapple ...
To continue the fruity theme...
I also seem to have a thing for ocean themed tea towels
Ships Ahoy!!
Does anyone remember that show called Flipper?
This was a good year...
This one has nothing to do with the ocean, it's just cute and quirky.
I never thought I'd see a game of lawn bowls depicted on a tea towel. It's an interesting design in which the negative space is in the center and the action is happening all around the edges of the picture.
And here is my favourite, what a great group of birds of different shapes and sizes!... in fact it's a lot like our garden...
...here in the Blue Mountains.
Which is Your favourite ?

Sono belli tutti, ma io preferisco il tema marino, il veliero sì, è il mio preferito!
ReplyDeleteGrazie per la tua gentilezza
Ciao!
I love the birds! I have a thing for birds on fabric, on anything I guess! it was fun to see this collection.

Cute tea towels, I like the quirky one the best :)
ReplyDeleteI love the bowl of fruit with the cuckoo clock- a nod to my German heritage! I must show you one my sister picked up recently- you'd love it!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun Rachael!
ReplyDeleteI love them all. My mom collected the calendar towels for years and hung them in our kitchen.
I unearthed one at our farm and it's signed: Vera
As in, Vera Bradley, before she was bradley.
My favorite is the birds at the bath of course!
thanks for sharing this lovely collection. Do you use them?
Rachael I love them all. Are they vintage? They would look pretty cool all framed up on a wall.
ReplyDeleteAdorable!!!!!! I think my favorite is the quirky one with the pilgrim girls =D I remember Flipper, but I never watched it =P
ReplyDeleteLovely collection, Rachel. I really love that "Ships Ahoy" towel. My hubby is into ship lore of any kind and I am, too...Julierose
ReplyDeletei think the big banana is my favorite - but they're all pretty cute! maybe you need a Chicago one to add to your collection - i just saw one this last weekend.... :-)
ReplyDeleteI'd have to choose Noosa Head but I really love how they are all bright and colorful. It's quite a collection you have!
ReplyDeleteI love the birds at the fountain, but they're all pretty neat! Do you display them?
ReplyDeleteYes! I remember Flipper!! I collect tea towels! Love yours!
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm....I like all of them, but....the Big Banana and the Blue Mountains. Those would be super cute incorporated into a quilt, don't you think "sew" ?
ReplyDeleteI luv the pilgrims!
ReplyDeleteooooo what a great post!! I love the birds..but really, you have quite an eye for collecting. It is all wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHmm, the Welsh one's a tad odd in there (that's the one with the daffs) and the rest make me think my white with blue check tea-towels are really quite boring (though they're e-towels so they're super-driers)
ReplyDeleteThey are all so unique and fun. I couldn't pick a favorite. You find such great things!
ReplyDeleteOh I LOVE your tea towels! I really think I'll have to do a tea towel parade blog post now too!! As for a favourite, I can't seem to decide between the lawn bowls or the 'quirky' one!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous collection, my favourite is the big banana. It's so you too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous collection. I can still remember when I first went to The Big Banana. I thought it was so exotic, lol.I was a teenager from Melbourne! Now I live not far from The Big Pineapple, not quite as excited about it these days.
ReplyDeleteMy faves are the tall ship (storm-at-sea blocks around it?) & the birds at the birdbath. I have some Aussie linen towels I got at a deceased friend's estate sale. Funny, I don't think they're made here so much.
ReplyDeleteI'm voting for the Big Banana. It's so colourful and a bit out there .
ReplyDeleteYou have quite a collection there Missy!
Oh now you've got me Rachael...hard to pick a face... Perhaps Flipper...then again the birds on the fountain is pretty cool! I love tea towels and can never wait to use themLOL!
ReplyDeleteMum used to stain bullnosed 1" wood to a complementary or matching colour and then glue it to the current year's tea towel (like that Oz 1971 one). She made heaps for the school fete over the years. Anyway, at the end of the year, she'd unglue it and we'd have a new tea towel. I don't have any left :-(
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm at this March now and I love the fishes, my father had huge fish tanks and lots of exotic little fishes that he loved watching and have a quiet moments (with jazz playing softly in the background). Brought me wonderful memories. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThis has been a fun journey so far through your blog seeing all your (and others) creations, but I'm having a bit of a problem, You've introduced me to so many fun blogs that I'll be busy for a long time reading. Lol. I already am visiting Sujata's blog regularly, (not commenting though) she is such an inspiration, as are you and the other ladies you've covered on Friendly Friday's.
Now I'm going to finish March and then go do something creative myself, like making a backing for my Starburst. Lol.
Thank you so much for leaving me a comment. Your kind words encourage me to keep sharing my work and stories.
