I recently bought this vintage top. Even though I have a zillion WIP's and tops waiting to be quilted I couldn't resist those happy polka dots, little daisy fabrics and the way it is so delightfully wonky.

I think it's been washed, but the colours are still so strong. I'm thinking it might be 30's or 40's but I'm really not sure. Here's a close up of the sweet fabrics.

It's completely hand sewn.

It could do with a bit of attention from an iron though I don't think it's destined to ever be a flat quilt. It's crinkles and crumples add so much to it's charm.

I'm not quite sure what I'll do with it yet. It would be fun to quilt with perle cotton. or tied with red wool. Someone suggested I put the backing on using a pillowcase method without wadding/batting and use it as a cotton throw. I'm pretty slow at these decisions so in the meantime I'm enjoying seeing it draped over my banister...

and I'll marvel at it's surprise combinations and it's easy going piecing.

Do you ever get obsessed by a quilt that knocks you off your chair and you just know you'll have to make it one day? I do and this is my latest obsession - nine patch blocks placed slightly off center so they swirl out in a big circle. Oh my golly I LOVE this quilt!!

It's a poster for an exhibition at The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame in Texas. How cool is that!  I'd be there in a flash if I wasn't on the other side of the world so I'll just have to thank Bill of Wonkyworld for sharing some photos of the quilts.

Okay back to my millions of WIPs, I'll show progress photos in my next post...
