Wild Child
It's time to show you what I made with the Jane Sassaman Wild Child fabrics.
I used Denyse Schmidt's Holiday Hostess Hot Mitt pattern for this handy glove.
The fabrics have such fun names. These are Delirious Dots separated with a band of Sassy Stripes.
This square pot holder is based on Oh Franssons Quilted Potholder Tutorial.
That fabulous feature fabric is Flower Fiesta in red.
Jane's fabrics are so ideal for fussy cutting. There are lots of wonderful examples on her Ideas Blog
Oven Mitt action shot...
This gorgeous fabric called Passionate just had to be a round pot holder.
It's like a bouquet of pretty pink petunias.
A bit of Sassy Stripe for the pockets on the back.
The Masquerade fabric was perfect for a long Two Handed Pot Holder.
I couldn't resist using some thistle flowers from Jane Sassaman first range, Prairie Gothic, for the hand pockets.
I'm stocking up on Masquerade in the 3 colourways it comes in, blue, red and black. It's such a strong graphic print and will look great used in quilts.
The next few pot holders are a bit more liberated, using bits and pieces. Letting my inner child go wild! I love the way the colours in Gaillardia pop against the hot pink.
In fact all the fabrics work so well together in a wild enthusiastic way.
I even used the selvedges.
So that's my adventures of being a wild child playing with Wild Child. A huge thanks to Melissa P from 100 Billion Stars blog for sending them my way.
To see all of the Wild Child range of fabrics pop over to Jane Sassaman's website, and while you're there have a look at her Quilt Gallery, her quilts are simply amazing.
I asked Gbf if he had a favourite seeing he does most of the cooking here in Daisyland. His pick was the round potholder. The 2 handed Masquerade stands out for me.
Do you have a favourite?

ReplyDeleteI love them all! Maybe you will even do a little cooking?
ReplyDeleteOven Mitts are my favourite in the kitchen. Gbf's choice would be good for pan handles. They are all a joyful addition to the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteWow! they are so bright and happy! The oven mitt action shot was my fav pic :)
ReplyDeleteYou sewed them up so perfectly and they're all too pretty to choose just one. I love that fabric, I have to get some!
ReplyDeleteThey are really all so pretty--I love that double handled one a lot tho--that would be my fave--great work! hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteI could never choose a favorite! They are all fabulous. Your work always looks happy!
ReplyDeleteThese are all so fun!! That mitt is wonderful with those Delirious Dots and Sassy Stripes. And the two handed Masquerade...well, it's hard to choose a favorite!

These are all so fun! But I'm loving your liberated Gaillardia with the big flower jumping off the edge of pink! FUN! These fabrics were perfect for these pot holders..... what a pick-me-up in the kitchen! Nice job!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! You've really used those prints at their best. Great way to perk up the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant fun! Love all the different versions but the thistle flowers one is my fav! X
ReplyDeleteI love the long two handed pot holder! I almost guessed you were making pot holders but it seemed too easy! Janes crazy fabrics look like so much fun, esp. for small projects. Way to drag some of that quilting mojo into your kitchen.:)
ReplyDeleteWow! Busy! I do love these prints. I think these might be what I was looking for in my LQS when I couldn't find whatever it was I was looking for. lol!
ReplyDeleteWow, you've been busy! Love the riot of colour, you've going to have the best protected kitchen ever!

Love them all! What great colorful fabric for pot holders!
ReplyDeleteOmigoodness, they are all so fantastic, it is hard to choose! Maybe the square red Flower Fiesta edges to the front, but the glove is pretty nice too.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone guess right?
I love the oven mitt even if they annoy the something or other out of me (mostly because my hands are too big, lol). Also the round one, and well, heck, I love pretty much the whole bunch of them 8-) Love the way you used the fabric.
ReplyDeleteThey are fabulous - I love them all, what a wonderful way to brighten up any kitchen.
ReplyDeleteThat all look wonderful. Such a riot of colour and pattern will definitely oven up you kitchen. I can't possibly choose a favourite, it's too hard.
ReplyDeleteWow, they are all so great. Your kitchen must be a happy place to cook in. I love that two handed one - striking looking!

ReplyDeleteok these are just adorable! I love the square one with the 3 sunflowers and those big leaves, it just made me smile as soon as I saw it. I see a quilt in there :)

I love them all - you are the sewing queen! These are so fun and colorful.
ReplyDeleteI like the round one because it's PINK hooray for pink
How cool are these Rachael...as for a favourite I ad to go back and look...they are just wonderful! I still can't decide but the fussy cut one along with the Praire flower one. Great job...I love them and GB will have fun deciding which one to use! Mmmmmm wonder which one he'll choose first!
ReplyDeleteLoving the circles too, that sassy stripe is heavenly!
ReplyDeleteYou have clearly released your inner hostie diva and gorn hog wild with amazing results. I hope you have a suitable feast to serve up! The only oven mitt we own that is not a rolled up tea towel, is one Hamish bought for us from Auckland Airport...and we use it for special!
ReplyDeleteThey look fabulous! I would love them in my kitchen but probably would have a hard time using them in case they got permanently stained. I bought a pot holder when I was in an Amish community in Lancaster County. I have never been able to use it.
ReplyDeleteGosh they are all so beautiful, but I do love how you cut the fabric from Prairie Gothic for the hand pockets and used the harlequin print. That one is stunning!
ReplyDeleteYour colour choices are lovely - really vibrant. I could do with these in my kitchen!
ReplyDeleteWhen I came to the photo: "Oven Mitt action shot" this thought jumped into my head "Ah, there it is" and although I love all your pot holders that one is my winner.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for leaving me a comment. Your kind words encourage me to keep sharing my work and stories.
