Things that make me smile...
An exciting thing happened this week that really had me smiling!!
The wonderful Pat Sloan came across a picture of my Sunny Day in Swoon Town House block and posted it on her Face Book. Oh My Golly!!
I've had so many fabulous comments and emails from people asking for a tutorial or pattern. The block is from Camille Roskelly's fabulous Swoon Quilt. I did change it just a little bit to make the houses work and Camille has given me permission to show how I made the little houses. I'll work on it this weekend so stay tuned...

Gbf showed me this photo because he thought I'd like the carpet. He was so right! In fact I love everything about in this photo... except...
I wish it was in colour!!!

Whilst floating around on the internet I came across this photo of this 70's Marimekko fabric. This is the fabric that hung in the loungeroom as I was growing up!! I loved those curtains!! Hmmm I wonder if they had an influence on my taste
I think so - my latest project uses all the same colours!

ReplyDeleteLove you so much!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the attention, you deserve it!
If your Marimekko curtains had hung in my family's house, they would still be around -- we were a family that got rid of NOTHING!
And OMG, how did Gbf get that photo of ME? ;-)
I just realized you have a snake around your neck!!!!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteWow, exciting news about your swoon block. And well deserved as it is such a fun block with those little houses - you are just so clever. That chick in the carpet photo is just how I imagined you to look, now you just need those shiny trousers she is wearing!

ReplyDeleteRachael if things aren't making me smile all I have to do is go onto your blog. It brings a smile to my face every time. Don't like snakes you are braver than I.
ReplyDeleteI thought the snake was a scarf until I read Smazoochie's comment, lol. Your Swoon block is really lovely, a fantastic way to make it your own.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the pattern!
ReplyDeleteThat's such a cheerful, fun block! The fun thing about that photo being in black and white is now you can just imagine it to be the way you think it should be.:)
ReplyDeleteSo many delightful things in this post! Well, except for that snake.
ReplyDeleteLove the sneak peek at your ongoing project!
LOL - I love turquoise, which is the colour of our loungeroom when I was growing up. And lime, the colour of my bedroom, and of course all the colours of the rainbow.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure that you were enjoying posing with that python!
It official your now on My Famous list. Well deserved. I have always admired your sense of humour and surprise in your quilting.
ReplyDeleteLike the photo of you at Featherdale.
Congratulations on your new fame! This is a wonderful block. I'd never seen it. I love what you did with the houses. Oh my, that photo reminds me of the living room I grew up in, only mine was not quite as swingin' as that one. LOVE your scrappy strips with linen AND your old curtains. Don't you wish you owned those now! I think that what we see as children does influence what comes out of us now. You were lucky with all that color around you!
ReplyDeleteThe colourful strips with the linen are beautiful. All the fun of 70s, and the neutral inbetween actually highlights the colours.
ReplyDeleteThat's fantastic - I LOVE your block! It certainly made me smile! The linen looks great next to those vibrant colours.
ReplyDeleteyour fab block makes me smile too ! but that snake photo not so much - you are one brave girl !

I wish it were in color too!!!
