Darling Donkeys and Happy Hexagons
It's meant to be a tea towel but it's too special for that so I'm going to use it as my sewing machine cover. Another cute little, teeny weeny ceramic donkey was also in the package. He'll stand on my window sill and enjoy the view of the garden. Melody also included a raffle ticket, so I might win a quilt too!! Thank you Melody, your stitches are beautiful, and your gifts so thoughtful!!
I can also thank Melody for inspiring me to start sewing hexagons again. She makes amazing fussy cut hexi flowers. Mary from Molly Flanders has also influenced my latest project with her amazing hexi quilt. Here's some peeks of what I've done so far...
I enjoy having a sewing project I can do in the lounge room so I can be where the action is. I can chatter away to Gbf if he's around, and it's all there set up, ready to go so I can sew a few hexis when I have a spare minute or two.
I know I probably shouldn't have started another quilt when I have so many half finished but how could I resist such pretty fabrics? They were calling out to me!!

Great post Rachael...and no, of course you can't refuse starting another quilt...this is what we do LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't think you need to resist, it's futile when you have luscious fabrics and great inspiration to boot.
ReplyDeleteI love the Donkey, so neat and what a kind gift. Knowing what happens to my tea towels, I'd have so used it for something else too. Now you can enjoy it in the sewing room.
That donkey is SO cute, with a Blue (Mountain) Daisy right in the middle! And look at those hexies! What an amazing colour palette!

The donkey is adorable! Love the flowers in the basket on his back :) Aren't these little hexagons addicting? It is so fun to put them together! You are in good company with all the started projects...no worries!!!
ReplyDeleteE' molto simpatico l'asinello carico di margherite....e no, non si può dire no ad un nuovo progetto.
ReplyDeleteCiao
That donkey is the cutest I have ever seen! I believe that sewing machine cover is the perfect place for it too.
ReplyDeleteBack in India, when I visited my grandmother, I would see them every day! They are the cutest creatures!
I just love your hexie project! What a great idea to frame the vignettes.
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful idea for a sewing machine cover!!

I'm smitten with your new sewing machine cover!!! Cute!!!!! Your hexies are beautiful!!! I would love to try to make an entire hexie quilt. I can't wait to see it all finished up =D
ReplyDeleteWho says you can't start another quilt? It's finishing them that I have a problem with!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the donkey, it looks very vintage.
No wonder you couldn't help yourself. Just look at those fabrics you've selected. It's going to be amazing.
ReplyDeleteYour donkeys are just too cute. And what happy friends to have around you while you sew.
LOVE your hexagons! How could you not start another project as lovely as that!
ReplyDeleteDonkey....sweet! Hexies....gorgeous! That pink toile fabric....to die for!
ReplyDeleteGoodness, aren't you having fun! I am almost succumbing to the hexie thang... almost. I can see I end up getting some templates but I need to find the huge roll of freezer paper I have in Melbourne.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to say what I love more, the donkey stitchery cover for them machine or that pink toile center for the hexie!
ReplyDeleteIt's a tie, I love both
I've been looking for a vintage donkey planter for my bathroom, I think they are a hoot!
Ooh, lovely hexie eye candy! You know I agree with you about a bit of English Paper Piecing, I take my bag of diamonds with me everywhere I go! Love that donkey too - I really must practice embroidery more, I would love to be able to do something as lovely as this.
ReplyDeleteOh my! that new quilt is truly gorgeous. I love the centre panel and can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteLove the little donkeys too :-)
