Eleventy One Giveaway
How's this for coincidence. Today is the eleventh day of the first month
In other words, well, numbers that's 1-11
and I've just noticed that I have 111 followers!!! Wow!!!
I think that's pretty special and worth celebrating...
Bloggy syle with a giveaway!!!
One lucky winner will win 111 charm squares cut from my stash.
Of course I'm happy to post internationally!!!
You get a second chance if you leave another comment saying you're a wonderful follower.
I'll pick a winner in eleven days, I figure running a giveaway for 111 days would be stretching it just a bit too much. :)
By now you must be wondering about the photos. I came across this fence that had been decorated in Redfern, Sydney. I couldn't find any information but my guess is that it was a community art project of some sort. It was done in sections showing different artists work, each so different but all so interesting and wonderful.
I love it when you stumble across a treasure like this!!! I've called it Inspiration Fence. A flock of plastic cutlery birds, recycled fence skaters, just amazing and all the more wonderful for being in an outdoor setting. I love that part of the challenge for the creators would have been to use things that could withstand rain, hail and shine.

I have an electric Necchi that's been a workhorse, but I sure wish I had one of those fancy Berninas!
ReplyDeleteHi! I have six machines at my house - an old Singer treadle machine, a Singer "portable" from about 1900, a Singer Featherweight, another Singer that's about 10 years old, a Singer 7470 that was my primary quilting machine until Christmas, and a new Juki! All of them work, and all of them get used at one time or another. The 1900 Singer "portable" was a gift from my daughter - she found it at a yard sale for $3!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I am a follower!!! Love your blog!!
ReplyDeleteI have a wee Elna machine, that was a 21st birthday present from my mother. 12 years later, and it's still going strong! :-) (Sometimes I wonder how many 'sewing machine years' it's done, since it probably gets a bit more use than the average domestic sewing machine..... And then I get frightened at that thought and run away from it again. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower of your blog, as well. Your background with it's fab floralness always makes me smile. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh how fun! Today is your day. I have a non-electronic Bernina from my mother 11 years ago. I love it! No stupid computer to break - which I fear the most. I wish for a long-arm. . . one day.
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower. . can't wait to see what's next. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a coincidence with the ones. Love the fence art. I didn't realise the birds were cutlery. Great idea for a giveawy, can you throw my name in the hat? I follow your blog of course.
ReplyDeleteI have two featherweights, a treadle, a serger I call the beast, a new singer featherweight for emergencies and the monster which is the Bernina 820.
I love your birds!
ReplyDeleteI have a Viking Husqvarna called Lily cos that's the model! ha ha ha!

ReplyDeleteI love the push button start/stop feature on my machine. I use it almost exclusively. I have a Brother, can't remember the # but it is a great machine.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I am a follower. I found you during the SMS Giveaway day, love your blog!
ReplyDeleteI am a follower who makes with her singer; bought by my Mum & Dad when I left home 15 years ago. I have since ebayed a singer treddle & an old hand operated singer! Can you see a pattern ...;)
ReplyDeleteI have a Bernina and have not begun to scratch the surface of what it can do - which I really should get around to doing!
ReplyDeleteI love the fence you found. Didn't realize the birds were made of cutlery - I had to go back for another look!
Hugs,
Kerry

Congratulations on 111!!!
ReplyDeleteI have 7 machines!! A new Janome 1600P (i love the thread cutters and fast speed!!), a Wertheim hand crank which ive had since i was 7 years old, an Elna supermatic (my favourite), an Elna 3210 ( i bought new a couple of years ago- doesnt get used much), a Bernina 830 in immaculate condition, an old Elna contessa up until now ive used for all my free motion quilting - its SO small!!, and lastly a Janome mystyle which my kids use! Phew thats a lot isnt it!
My machine is a very basic Singer, nothing fancy, and what I like best about it is that it is simple and friendly!! Seriously, my friend got herself an electronic Huskvarna monster and I would be scared to use it.
ReplyDeleteI still sew on my wonderful old Bernina 831. This is a very heavy all metal machine that has no fancy computer. I have had it since my college days back in the 1960s. Her name is Honey. This Christmas, my husband gave me a new Juki for my quilting frame. Her name is Priscilla. Honey has developed a tension problem, but otherwise she still works well. Thanks for asking this question.
ReplyDeleteI am a follower of your blog and always enjoy your posts.

ReplyDeleteWe had 4 machines - all broken. A treadle, an unknown 1950s Japanese model, and 2 Singer Stylist from 1973. So, my mother purchased a Husq. computerized machine after Christmas. It does scare us, and the "January" class won't actually be held until mid-March. We want to find out more about threads as it seems to be too tempermental.
ReplyDeleteI have a SilverCrest sewing machine, a really cheap unheard of brand, that I bought last February. It has taught me to sew and I love it!
ReplyDeleteFor Christmas a bought a generic ruffler that fits and now I'm having fun making everything ruffley :-)
Congratulations on your followers too!
ReplyDeleteI am in the veeeeeeery early stages of starting a blog but I am a follower.
I cannot pass up a chance to win 111 charm squares from your stash!!
ReplyDeleteWhat do I love about my machine, I love that my Mum bought it for me, cause I probably wouldn't have got round to buying one for myself!
I'm a wonderful follower! *snort*
ReplyDeleteI was going to say I don't have a machine - well that's what I usually tell everyone. But that would be lying :-) I actually have an old Singer treadle machine, circa 1900 (I think), it has the Egyptian scarabs an papyrus on it. I had to have it after having trekked Egypt when I was 18.
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE a machine I could actually use - I do all of my stitching and quilting by hand and have just started quilting.
I would just be ecstatic if I won something like this.
Thanks for the opportunity.
Oh and I am a follower too :-)
ReplyDeletehappy 1/11/11! I tracked down your blog when I saw your adorable house block that Nancy ( Selvage Blog) won. And I stumbled onto your giveaway! I have an Elna machine which I sometimes love. I'm ready to upgrade but need to wait my for pocketbook to fill up first!
ReplyDeleteI have four machines and love them all.
ReplyDeleteI'm already a follower. ;)
ReplyDeleteMy everyday machine has had a couple of non-user issues. Super annoying. I am dreaming of a Bernina.
ReplyDeleteI am a follower. Great giveaway.
ReplyDeleteMy machine has 33 stitches - I only know what about 5 of them are for! 111 congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to be entered to win! My sewing machine is a Bernina, and I LOVE it! I'm still learning some of its features though. Congratulations on your followers on 1 - 11.
ReplyDeleteI'm already a follower.
ReplyDeletehello! can you believe i wasn't a follower yet? now i am.
ReplyDeleteabout my sewing machine, it's a Bernina Aurora 440 Quilter's Edition and i loveeeeee her. i feel so priviledged that i got to have my dream sewing machine as my first machine ever. i chose it because i read great reviews about it when i was researching what mchine to choose, and i found that it was a sign that the name was the same as my dear granny (Aurora). it was very expensive though, but i was lucky enough to find it on an auction in ebay and believe me it's brand new!
i always hear great thing about her when i take her to classes or someone comes visit and uses it. that she is very silent, that she has lots of smart menus, that she is the rolls royce of sewing machines. i get so proud, you have no idea.
so, can you tell how much i'm happy with it? hehehe
Congrats for your more than 111 followers, my sewing machine's a Singer, it's one year old, almost two, don't have a name for her, I spoil her so much, but she has her attitudes sometimes, so... I state her I'm going to throw her in the trash car when she's misbehaving..., not sure if she hears me, but surely I love her VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM @ me!!!!. I'd love to have a sewing machine with special stitches on it, but they're really expensive :'(
ReplyDeleteI'm your follower 116, yay for you!!!!!. Love the pic you have in the top of your blog, the fishie, the scissors (I'm a scissor collector), and the embroidery's a cutie!!!
ReplyDeleteI have four machines, my Pfaff that is 18-19 yrs old and has definitely earnt it's keep over the years. I have a really lovely treadle called a Bebarfalds Bluebird, it has such pretty bluebird decals. My first machine I bought was an antique Singer, it goes backwards and forwards! The final machine at my house is my Grandmothers Singer 201, it is the machine I learnt to sew on and it still has all it's attachments and sews beautifully.
ReplyDeleteI am a follower of your blog.
ReplyDeleteI have an old Bernina 930 that has been my workhorse for a little over 20 years & I wouldn't trade it for anything. I have only had it serviced once & that was because I thought maybe I should! I also have a new Bernina Serger that I love-I do a lot of garment sewing as well as quilting
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower of your blog
ReplyDeleteI have a Janome. It's not fancy -- but I love it. I usually say "come on Tilly" if there is a problem. So I guess Tilly is her name:)
ReplyDeleteI have a Bernina 1230 that I bought 19 years ago and I love it! It's been a great machine for me. It's a little heavy to carry, but I haven't had to do that too many times, so it's not a problem for me.
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower!
ReplyDeleteI have just discovered you and find this a fun site. I was a visitor to your country in 1988 for 5 wonderful weeks. So sad to see the damage caused by the floods. I just started sewing after 25 years w/o a machine. Bought an inexpensive Kenmore (Sears brand) and have been turning out fun stuff since. Would like a fancier machine but money dictates.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so glad you said that those birds were cutlery....I did not see that at first! Sheesh! What talent those artists have!
ReplyDeleteFor machine, I have a EuroPro which I like very much, but just recently got the Juki 98Q, which has a 9-inch throat, so I can cram a whole queen sized quilt in there with no problem!!! Sweet! And it flies like the wind! Love it!
Thanks for having a giveaway! We love those!
I'm also a follower! Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cool! My birthday was 1-1-11... I wonder if it means anything special? LOL
ReplyDeleteLast year I bought a Pfaff Quilt Expression 3.0 - it was a dream come true!!
Oh! I am a follower too! Thanks for the chance to win this cool giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteMy machine is an older electronic Singer. It works pretty well, but when I try to do free motion quilting, I get big loops of the top thread on the bottom! Also - the reverse button sometimes doesn't work. I'd LOVE a new machine. But I'm not holding my breath!
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower! Thanks for the giveaway chance.
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower! I have a Janome QC6019 and I love it. Mind you, I wouldn't mind one of the new Janome Horizons, but I guess I'll need to do more quilting and save up before I can justify that, lol.
ReplyDeleteI am a follower! Thanks for the give away! Fun numbers!
ReplyDeleteI just have a normal very simple Husqvarna sewing machine. Would love to own a machine made for quilters....
ReplyDeleteHi there! I fould your blog through Beth's blog and had to check out your little house project. I love the fish in your header!
ReplyDeleteI have 3 Janomes and am very happy with them. I would probably choose the same brand next time as well so I can use all the feet and stuff.
Thanks for the chance to win all those charm squares; what a great prize, and think of all the work you have put into it cutting them!
Well, I found you through Beth's House project - I like your house in a heart - I'm still working on mine. But for the charm squares (which I LOOOOVVVVVEEE! I'm the scrap queen of my guild!) a little about my machine. His name is Curtis because he is a Brother, named after my own brother, and I am hoping that giving it that name will imbue the machine with some of my brother's wonderful characteristics - generosity, creativity, strong work ethic, patience and loyalty.
ReplyDeleteI have a Bernina that I love. Its my first sewing machine though I learned on my mum's old Kenmore. Ancient wonderful workhorse machine that one was, but I have to say I really love some of the lovely features on the newer machines.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun coincidence that you had the 111 on 11/1 - very very cool.
ReplyDeleteI've got 2 machines... my first machine which is a Brother PS 57 and was fantastic for learning how to sew and was just what I needed. Feed dogs dropped down so I learnt how to FMQ with it too. I now use it if I need to take it to my craft group as it's got a carry case and very portable.
When I started making bigger quilts and needed a bigger machine with a larger 'throat' I looked at a janome horizon, but my budget didn't quite stretch that far. So I went with another Brother machine. It's a Brother Innovis QC 1000 and it's perfect for my needs, plus it's roomy so you can fit a big quilt in there for FMQ.
So there you have it - my sewing machine story :-)
BTW - For Christmas I bought my DD a little singer sewing machine from Toys R Us. It does straight stitch and zig zag. She's desperate to sew with it.
Wow that was a long post.
ReplyDeleteI'm an avid follower :-)
I found your blog after peeping into your photostream via the doll quilt swap. I just started sewing about a year ago after buying a very basic Brother sewing machine (50$ at Black Friday sales). All it does is a straight stitch and the zigzag, but its been faithful to me and I've already churned out 3 queen sized quilts and several baby/ lap quilts so far....and am totally happy with it.
ReplyDeleteI love my sewing machine. A janome excel. No computer inside just sews with a bit more flashy stitches that I have never really used. I do follow as I know the blue mountains well.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Thank you so much for leaving me a comment. Your kind words encourage me to keep sharing my work and stories.
