L is for...

Just for a moment imagine me doing a cheer leader dance... "Give me an L!!"

"Give me an O!!"

"Give me a Veeee""

" And give me an Eeeeee!!"

"What do we get? We get - LOVE!!!" Rar Raa RAA

I finished The Love Quilt top. I've enjoyed using the Essex Linen/Cotton blend in natural for the background. It's such a great neutral colour with wonderful texture.

I couldn't leave it unpieced though, I felt it needed a few highlights.

Just a few pieces of lighter fabric here and there. They almost look like pieces of paper floating or falling.
I've made the top about 95 x 85 inches. I would love to hand quilt it in colourful perle cotton but I've accepted that I just don't have time. I'll take it to my longarm quilter and she'll make it extra special with her wonderful quilting. The backing will be this colourful Fruitti Tutti quilt I posted for New Years. I figure that way it can be a two sided quilt. A perfect wedding gift for some lovely friends of mine.

I hope you've been doing some lovely sewing lately..

At least YOU have been quilting something lovely ! What a great idea for a wedding gift! Your neutral background is very nice.It looks like my French so-called *metis fabric*, that is the warp is linen, the weft cotton, in this kind of natural color. The pieced highlights are a clever idea too!

Love it Rachael, and love the pieced background. It's a wonderful gift for your friends. Love the Tutti Frutti quilt top too that you are using as the backing. A lovely idea to have such a vibrant back to use as an alternative.

Oooh so cool. The centre works all on its own but is a powerful statement surrounded by the neutrals.
First look at the whole top made me think of light refracting from crystal. Really excellent top.

Hi, Rachael. I agree with everybody else--great idea for a wedding gift. The pieced letters have such cheerful colors, sending out a message of hope. I hate to say this, but I like the background best. It shows off the letters and yet holds its own--brilliant! Great place for some interesting quilting too.
best, nadia

So, in my mind I still have you dancing all over the room with your cheer leading chant! What fun that would be.
Great quilt. Love the fabrics and the lettering and the background you have set them on. It looks so gorgeous.
What a great idea you have come up with for the backing. That would be a great quilt on its own, but this is a wonderful way to use it.
Fantastic gift!!!
