Sew Mama Sew Give Away Day!
Hip Hip Hooray!!! It's Sew Mama Sew Give Away Day!!!!
I came up with my Give Away gift idea when I received so many wonderful comments about my Very Merry Merry Go Round Quilt during the last Bloggers Quilt Festival. It's those wonderful Queen of The May blocks that make it so much fun! Imagine them on cushions, table runners or a feature on a skirt.
So to help you on your way to making some Queen of the May Blocks I'm giving away a set templates. These are made by Material Obsession and result in a 12 inch circle. I'll include some instructions and tips.
Your templates will always be safe and cosy in this little pouch I made for them.
And so you can see what you are making you'll receive a cute little doll quilt featuring a Queen of the May block.

ReplyDeleteMy 4mm 40cm addi turbo knitting needle.
ReplyDeleteI just have to say that the wee template holder and the block are delicious! Any chance of another picture of the holder? I'd like a better look at those birds.
Oh I LOVED this quilt when you first posted about it and I pinned it on Pinterest. It is just breathtaking.
ReplyDeleteI live my new non slippy ruler...no more accidents!
It would have to be my fork pins, they keep everything exactly were they are meant to be when joining my pieces.
ReplyDeleteI just ordered an accuquilt go baby so maybe this will be my future most loved tool :) Currently I love my Gingher rotary cutter.

My little snipping scissors! They are my most used item - between snipping threads and seam ripping, I can use them for everything!

ReplyDeleteI love my surgical seam ripper. It is so sharp and unsews (unpicks) so quickly and easily that I would be devastated if I lost it.
ReplyDeleteI love a pair of bright springy thread snippers my husband bought me. He was so thoughtful to think about saving my hands, that I love the thought as much as the simple tool.
ReplyDeleteFantastic and creative giveaway chance! The tools, and the inspiration...crossing fingers!
I'm a follower!
ReplyDeletecutest quilt ever. seriously. i love this doll baby quilt! thank you for a chance. i have a small pair of embroidery scissors i keep by my machine for snipping the thread. i love these things. would be lost without them!
ReplyDeleteI hate my seam ripper!!! Instead I use my small rotary cutter to rip seams. So without it I would have to resort to the seam ripper NO!!! Thanks for a great giveaway.
ReplyDeleteAs a novice, the essential tool is a seam ripper! I'm very quick to use it as well!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite sewing tool are my stork scissors. They were my mothers and I use to play with them all the time. She gave them to me when I got older and I still use them all the time.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm, let's see... I think my favourite item would most definitely have to be my rotary cutter! I have nicked myself a couple of times with it but it just makes for such fast work! If I had to cut all of my fabric by hand I wouldn't get half as much done.
ReplyDeleteThat's not to say that I don't cut by hand too though because I always do for English paper piecing, curves, and clothing.
I would love to be original here, but if I'm honest I have to say the rotary cutter. This is a lovely giveaway. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThose circles are darling!!! I would have to say that I could not live without my machine, but my seam ripper is always close at hand! ;(
ReplyDeleteI really love tools, but I will pick my 4"x14" acrylic ruler as my favorite of the moment.
ReplyDeleteI do a lot of hand sewing, so I love sewing needles. Thanks for the giveaway! robyn(dot)geddes(at)gmail(dot)com

ReplyDeleteWhat a great prize - very inspiring! I guess my rotary cutter would have to be my favorite time saver. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful well-thought out giveaway you are conducting..it would be wonderful to recieve. I love templates. The whole process of quilting is exciting for me and I just have to have good sharp scissors and rotary cutters and yes, I am growing a little fond of my Baby Go for it does do what it does very well..if not a little wastefully. The accuracy and speed are worth that sacrifice though and if you are careful cna be kept to a minimum..but it does go against the grain, nonetheless. Templates are always great to have and i love that you have made a beautiful home for yours..what a good idea!
ReplyDeleteI love my thread cutter pendant.
ReplyDeleteI'm a happy follower.
ReplyDeleteI did join in with GFC too!
ReplyDeleteWOW - i have not seen this block before, but i love it! what a fabulous giveaway!! :)! my favorite tool is my rotary cutter (with a fresh blade). i just love to slice thru fabric and make quick work of the cutting - it's my least favorite part.

My favourite sewing toy is a little cupcake pincushion one of my friends made for me. It fits on my left hand thumb and is just so convenient - I just pop the pins on to it as I take them out while sewing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for a great giveaway and the chance to win. Those templates look nifty and the pouch is gorgeous. That doll quilt is just too adorable.

Hi!
ReplyDeleteMy absolute favourite sewing tool is my very old -probably at least 50-60 yrs - and metalic green Husqvarna 2000 sewing machine. I got it as a present, and the first time I tried it, I thought wow! It makes the most beautyful stitches, runs supersmooth, is quiet and I jsut love it! I hope it will run well for many years ahead!!
And I am a new follower of your blog!

ReplyDeleteMy clear rulers and rotary.
ReplyDeleteI'm a new sewer so my seam ripper is always close by, but I love my rotary cutter as well!

My computer is my best accessory ! It plays music and movies and podcasts while I sew down in my quiet basement and I use it constantly to look up patterns and fabrics and tutorials !
ReplyDelete(This is one of my favorite giveaways yet. This block is now on my short list of projects !)
My favourite tool is my stiletto - I learned to quilt using it and now I feel naked if it isn't in my right hand when I am at the machine. It guides the fabric so well and I don't have to use as many pins. Great giveaway, by the way - I love your sample block so so much!
ReplyDeleteA new follower!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite are my spring loaded scissors! :)

ReplyDeleteThat's a super awesome giveaway Rachael! Lucky I caught up in my reader in time to enter! :)

My pincushion also follows me around, though I don't love it I guess it's one of those used a lot things!
ReplyDeleteI love my Ott light. I have a floor model that doesn't take up any sewing/cutting table room. It's awesome. I can't believe how much easier it is to sew even in the daylight. And sewing on black material at night is wonderful too now.
