Simply Moderne #2
The postie was whistling as he popped the new edition of Simply Moderne in my letter box. I saw him and went out to greet him.
"Have a great day!" he called as he continued on his way.
Ooohhh, a Simply Modern magazine!! Of course it would be a great day with all these pages full of quilty gorgeousness at my finger tips.
When you get a new magazine do you read it methodically from the beginning? One page after another, and resist flipping through to the end in case you spoil any surprises?
That's not all though - my Undercover Colour quilt was also included in the article. Oh happy day indeed!!!
There are lots of my other favourite quilts from the show as well. It was wonderful to see them again. I know I've said it before but Quiltmania and Simply Moderne are super stars for showing off Aussie quilts and quilters to the world.
To celebrate I made myself a cup of tea.
and settled into reading the whole magazine.
I thoroughly enjoyed every page, from the beautiful front cover...
all the way to the back cover.

Are you curious about the product and book reviews?
I often read articles about quilters first ( Hello Lorena).
But in this case I raced straight to the article about the Sydney Quilt Show.
And was soon hollering and dancing a merry jig around my lounge room and singing
"Yippee Yay!! Oh Happy Day!!"
There was my Blooming Doilies taking up a whole page!!That's not all though - my Undercover Colour quilt was also included in the article. Oh happy day indeed!!!

A little note for Aussie readers - It takes a while, like a couple of months for Simply Moderne and Quiltmania to make it into our newsagents. There's a couple of things you could do so you don't miss out. You could organise with your local newsagent to keep a copy aside for you when it comes in. Or you can subscribe and get the magazines delivered straight to you, that way you get them when they're released without the long wait. If you're lucky you might even catch the postie whistling as he pops it into your letter box :) Here's the link to subscribe.

Wow, this is exciting news! Congratulations! I love seeing your quilts in print, like seeing an old friend again. I quickly flip through, soaking in the most exciting pieces then try to find several snippets of time later for a more methodical look. Must have a closer look at subscriptions.....
ReplyDeleteYou must feel so proud hon - your quilts are so stunning, I'm so glad you're getting such great recognition!
ReplyDeleteI so need to subscribe. I absolutely loved the first issue. I get Quiltmania digital edition which is great, but not quite the same as really paper!

I just got mine the other day! I love this magazine. Your quilt literally jumped off the page. It was so nice to see it up close and personal.Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI want one! I have to find this and get a subscription! I love how great your vibrant red quilt looks!
ReplyDeleteI also am OBSESSED with the Buck on the cover. Wish I had come up with that one!
When I get a new mag I usually flick through quickly and perhaps read one article and then read the whole mag completely when I have a bit more time. I haven't decided whether I will subscribe or not, but I've found a newsagent in South Australia who stocks it so I'm happy to wait until it arrives. Its so lovely to see all the Australian quilters getting this recognition from an international magazine.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day that must have been! I love to see Australian quilters getting worldwide recognition. I hope we will soon see a day when global quilting influences are common place and we can bask in all that creativity.
ReplyDeleteLove your cup of tea on that lively print too!
Yea!! Your red doily quilt surely deserves a full page. That way we can all look at all the wonderful details. I also found your quilt in Quiltmania this month too!! Yahoo!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations yet again Rachael, I'm hoping to find it locally here in B.C. But I'm finding a lot of quilting magazines are not being carried as they were before.
ReplyDeleteLovely Cuppa.
Rachael,
ReplyDeleteI saw Happy as a Clam at PIQF yesterday. Such a clever quilt! I love it. I have followed it for a while and was so thrilled it was going to be here. Such a great idea to do with litte keepsakes that you don't know what else to do with!

I love opening up a quilt magazine and seeing a quilt I recognize as being made by a blogger I know! Very exciting for you to see your own quilt inside.:) It's a great magazine!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your quilts in the mag. This has been a very rough year for us, so no new mags for me, but I love for you to show us your beautiful creations when they are (and aren't) displayed. Wow, some lucky people get to see that gorgeous clam shell spectacular in person. I know I look at it every day (as my computer wallpaper), but jeez I would love to see it up close and personal. I am going to be begin one of my own this winter. I have been collecting denim scraps for a year now. I don't think I have enough-nobody here cuts off their jeans I guess. (Too expensive? Too chilly-Oregon?). Anyway congrats again and wish me luck on my great copycat production. LOL.
ReplyDeleteLe tue creazioni sono fantastiche e meritano tutto il successo su riviste stupende!
ReplyDeleteCiao
Quiiltmania publishes incredible magazines and what an honor to be included in both in recent months. It feels so cool to be able to recognize someone's quilt having had read about the quilts journey through the maker's blog. Love your style and love your own wonderful personal quilting journey. Congratulations on being recognized in such a glorious way.
ReplyDeleteNow that was worthy of doing a jig around the house. Enjoy the moment.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!! Thanks also for the link for subscription - just completed!!
ReplyDeleteIt is just as exciting every time!! How wonderful to see your quilts in the magazine and how special to have one on a whole page!!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos of your gorgeous quilts!!!
Well done!
Yep - I flip through first and then go back and savour each page! Congratulations for both quilts being featured in the magazine. I am hoping that when I hit Australia in December the Aussie newsagents might finally have this in stock!
ReplyDeleteI have to so wade thru 20 comments and the line of fans to make my bitty remarks of how stunning your work is and how it makes me happy!!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you. I saw your beautiful bubbles quilt all over the newsagents the other day. Do you think it's OK to tell strangers, "I know her!".

ReplyDeleteHow do I read my quilt magazines? I guess a quick, once-through, front to back, maybe marking things I especially like, then doing a more thorough going through later.
ReplyDeleteUnless I know someone who has a quilt in the magazine, then I would go straight to them! Congratulations, RD! I wish I was sitting across from you at your colo(u)rful table, drinking tea & talking quilts.
Congratulations, Rachael! What a thrilling event! Yes, happy dancing and hollering is allowed and encouraged! Your quilt is so beautiful and so very creative. I love it! I wish I was half so clever as you! ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's so fun to see someone I "know" getting the recognition she deserves. I wish I could find this magazine locally, but I live so far out in the country that it's hard to find international magazines around here. I'll have to check out the subscription - thanks for the link!
You deserve it, you are so inspirational!
ReplyDeleteThis Simply Moderne magazine is the one I was longing for, with pleasing quilts -the ones I love to see on my favorite blogs- and some educational texts to catch the spirit of modern quilting.
I think it is wonderful your considerable talent and creativity is receiving the recognition you deserve. I've always thought you are a quilting superstar.
ReplyDeleteYipee! Congratulations on ANOTHER magazine spread -- you do good work LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulation! Again!
ReplyDeleteI must admit I just skipped through Simply Moderne when it arrived, not enough time for anything else. Only later, with enough time and a pot of coffee, did I notice something familiar :-)
xx
Oh Rachael my Heart skipped a beat for you...Congratulations to you...oh how exciting! When I get a magazine I used to be methodical and do one page at a time...these days if there is a great article I tend to head there firs!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous quilt, Rachael! So inspiring! And I love red and white quilts....classic. Congratulations! You are a superstar in my book!
ReplyDeleteThat quilt deserves a whole page to itself!!!! Congrats on another beautiful quilt!
ReplyDeleteI'm in the U.S. and subscribed a few weeks ago. Haven't gotten a magazine het but I'm sure I will soon.
LOVE your tablecloth !!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with all these patterns. They are so cool. I can actually even use them in my painted works. Thanks for a new Idea!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for leaving me a comment. Your kind words encourage me to keep sharing my work and stories.
