I've been sewing squares again.

My inspiration for this lot of squares was the arrival of Jennifer Paganelli of Sis Boom's latest range Beauty Queen. I was poised with my rotary cutter, ready to cut up the pretty stack of fabrics but then I had that thing where you can't cut up new and precious fabric. On the other hand the Beauty Queen fabrics were so pretty so I decided to use bits of them mixed and matched with fabrics from past Sis Boom ranges. The selection I ended up with is from about 10 different ranges from over 5 years.

I really like the mix of colours and styles I ended up with. I placed the squares on my design wall as I cut them and chose fabrics as I went along. I'd reach for the next fabric based on how it was looking, whether it needed more pink for warmth or yellow to brighten it. The combination ended up being lots of pretty florals and girly pinks and lemons with some punchy navy and even a bit of black and white thrown in for oomph!

I've contrasted the colours with natural linen backing and have quilted the lot with straight line quilting. I love the texture this type of quilting adds to the quilt.

So now I'm up to the binding which I should get finished today. It looks like another lovely sunny day so I'll sit outside with Ginger Fluff and Maybellene and listen to their chicken stories about how they like to wander around the garden looking for worms to eat.

I'll be back with photos of a finished quilt soon. Hopefully our sunny days will hold out long enough for some fun photos. I think this quilt is calling out for some flowery garden shots.
