How cute is this snail planter overflowing with muscari hyacinths!?!

When I see it I always smile because it means Heidi from Libellenquilts has popped over to visit. I first met Heidi a few Bloggers Quilt Festivals ago when she showed her All You Need Is Love quilt. This is the quilt that inspired my Love quilt..

Heidi's quilts are always wonderful and you'll find she has a way with words, quilted as well as spoken :)

Hi Heidi, Tell us a bit about yourself?
I just turned 53, married, 2 children. My husband and me are so grateful for the wonderful kids we got !

How long have you been quilting?
I started quilting in 1997, so now for about 15 years.

What enticed you to start quilting?
In the seventies I had seen the first quilts, but then it was all about hand piecing and making templates and I don't like that. When my daughter turned 3 I started to work again and in the summer before there was a beginner's class in our home-town, so I figured this would be the last time I would have the time to take a class and since then I'm hooked.
Of course, when the kids where younger I didn't have that much time to quilt and nowadays it's normally the evening or sundays when I find time.

What do you love about quilting?
I love fabrics and patterns and colours and as a programmer I only have virtual products or product parts . So I love to have a finished thing like quilts.

Is there any part of the process that you don't like?
Yes, I hate basting and often procrastinate it :-)

Do you have a favourite sewing saying or motto?
Well, maybe finished is better than perfect....

What model sewing machine do you use?
I use a Pfaff quilt expression 2046.

Do you listen to music while you sew? What is your favourite type or cd?
I listen to music when machine quilting, then the type depends on my mood.
I love music from the seventies until now, b.e. Cat Stevens, Abba, John Legend, John Mayr, Jason Mraz, Adele and one of my newest favourites: Fun

What is your favourite food?
I really don't know...I like simple foods... not too complicated and too sophisticated ! Schnitzel, spaghetti, steaks, hamburger :-)

Do you have any furry friends that keep you company while you sew?
Sadly not any more. We had a cat, which often sat on quilts or fabrics when i was sewing. Sometimes I had to stop the sewing machine, when she wanted some attention

Tell us about the house block you've made?
As I read that you love birds, I had to include a bird. Then I had to include dragonflies, because Libellenquilts is the name of my blog and Libelle means dragonfly. When I added the purple border out of my big big pruple stash , I thought the aboriginal dots where perfect. Not that I had much other options ;-)

Thank you Heidi, I LOVE your house block!! It's such a friendly house and it looks as though it's dancing!! The sunny yellow bird is wonderful and I love that you used dragonflies, now I know what Liebelle means!!

I just have to show one more of Heidi's quilts.. This was made as part of the Liberated Amish 2012 challenge, I just love everything about it, such a great example of how quilting can add a whole other layer of interest to a quilt!  Heidi has donated it to AAQI to be auctioned to raise money for research about Alzheimers .

I'm sure you've enjoyed getting to know Heidi. Pop over to her blog and enjoy her quilts.
